A short list I keep coming back to.
- Take care of people around you, and these people will take care of you, eventually.
- A word is a word. You promised something, do it even when it’s inconvenient.
- Never pull people down to prove your superiority.
- Optimizing for optionality doesn’t make any sense. What’s the point of leaving all these paths open if you never take one? The greatest things in life require commitment.
- Life is too short to stay committed to choices that don’t have asymmetric returns.
- Don’t apply logic to anything outside work.
